Houston Christian High School (HC) is an independent, non-profit, coeducational, private day school which educates students in grades 9-12. The academic year consists of two semesters extending from approximately August to December and January to May. Student leadership development through the Passport to Lead program is a distinct characteristic of each young person's college preparatory experience, and leadership principles integrated into every course at Houston Christian. HC is accredited by/a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), and the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS). HC is also the newest member of the Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC), effective November 2011. It is a located in Houston, Texas, United States at the intersection of Beltway 8 and Kempwood Drive, inside Beltway 8 and outside Interstate 610 in western Houston.

The mission of Houston Christian High School is a college preparatory school dedicated to the highest academic standards for the development of moral character, the enrichment of spiritual lives, and the perpetuation of growth in Christian ideals "[1]."

The diversity statement of Houston Christian High School is that HC values, cultivates and celebrates cultural, ethnic, religious and academic diversity and is committed to strengthening the students' vision of honor, community, heritage and scholarship through classroom experiences, curricular programs and leadership initiatives.
In 1998, Northwest Academy (K-12) split into First Baptist Academy and Houston Christian High School. First Baptist Academy moved to a location next to Houston First Baptist Church, and Houston Christian remained at the Northwest Academy site until a new school was built off of Beltway 8 (stretches of Beltway 8 are designated as the Sam Houston Tollway). HC originally occupied a 14.5 acres (5.9 ha) site at 4211 Watonga Boulevard. The British School of Houston opened on the former HC campus in September 2000.[1]
Students of some private schools, such as St. Francis Episcopal Day School, John Paul II Catholic School, Grace School, Holy Spirit Episcopal School and First Baptist Academy (FBA) matriculate to Houston Christian [2].
Current enrollment is 513 students. Prior to admittance, a prospective student must complete a satisfactory interview and take the Independent Schools Entrance Examination (ISEE). Academic standing, conduct, disciplinary record, attendance and a writing sample are all carefully studied in this decision.
Student matriculation after their time at HC includes top universities in Texas and throughout the nation including but not limited to Davidson College, University of Texas, Cornell University, Vanderbilt University, and UVA.
The Fine Arts Program in HC include Orchestra, Band, Choir, and Theatre. Under those programs are Keyboarding, Guitar, Percussion, Music Theory, Praise Band, Voice Pedagogy, Show Choir, Drama 1, Theatre Production, and Debate.
In the 2011-2012 school year Brendan Ehrenstrom and Tim Cleary have made TPSMEA All State Band, Mateus Hivnor, a freshman(!), has made TPSMEA All State Orchestra, and Katherine Gualy, Rebecca Glenister, a freshman(!), and James Whitcomb have made TPSMEA All State Choir.
